Lesson 100: The Once In A While Things

“Once in a while things” are the things that we have to remember to do or take with us that we don’t have to do or take with us every day.

Because we don’t do these things every day, remembering to do these things makes it more challenging to remember every day.

For example, if you only have a sign language class once a week, you only have to remember to take your sign language book to school once a week, and it is the “once in a while things” that you forget to do.

Here is what I call the “gather it and pact it system” or connect it to forget it.”  for the “once in a while things.”

The first rule is, whenever you think about your sign language book, even if you are doing something else like watching TV, get up and make sure you “gather it and pact” when you think about it because you will forget to do it later.

The second rule is to practice the “connect it to forget it” whenever possible.

This means that whenever possible, I want you to literally connect your “once in a while things” like an instrument you only take to school in your backpack.
