Lesson 28: The Habit Loop Step 3: The Response

The Response Step is the concrete activity or behavior that follows the cue and craving steps.

For instance, step 1 is the cue, triggered when you see or smell popcorn.

Step 2, the craving, makes you strongly desire to eat the popcorn because it tasted so good last time.

Step 3, the response, involves the actual act of eating the popcorn.

In essence, when Gauge recognizes that you’ve gone through steps 1 and 2 of the Habit Loop, he activates the mechanism that compels you to indulge in the tasty popcorn.

In simple terms, responses are the specific actions or routines that Gauge compels you to perform to satisfy your craving, ultimately leading to the reward.
