Lesson 21: Our Habits Help US Survive, Too

Your present-day parents also rely on Gauge’s Behavioral Habit Center every day to make split-second decisions that can save lives, much like Prehistoric People did.

For instance, when your parents observe the red brake light of the car in front of them illuminate, they don’t undergo a lengthy thought process pondering whether the car will stop.

Instead, they promptly apply the brakes without consciously needing to shift their foot from the gas pedal. This reflex action occurs in just 1/10th of a second because they have practiced this behavior countless times until it became a habit embedded in their Behavioral Habit Center.

This serves as an excellent example of how the habit of stepping on the brake has been wired into their Behavioral Habit Center.
